Year Two Portfolio
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is required by most professions nowadays and is an additional re-assurance to the general public that the coach that they are seeking to employ is constantly updating and developing their knowledge and skills. In a period when coaching as an intervention has yet to achieve professional recognition, Coaching & Mentoring International is providing the lead in establishing CPD for all practising members from the outset.
The training provided by Coaching & Mentoring International is designed to develop the academic practitioner with a balance between theoretical rigour and experiential practice. Following on from this thorough grounding is the development of the research-informed and reflective practitioner which is achieved through CPD. With these foundations laid strongly, we can all look forward to a coaching profession made up of properly trained and committed practitioners that genuinely serves society and receives the recognition that it deserves.
The First Year CPD portfolio is designed to provide support and a structure for all members ranging from new graduates to practising coaches who may or may not have experience of CPD from previous work, hence the required and optional elements of the portfolio. However after this initial introduction to CPD, the subsequent annual CPD activities can be selected by members from a broader base of activities, to reflect individual on-going learning interests and requirements. All that is required to maintain balance is that activities are drawn from each category to adhere to the recommended percentage contribution to the whole. The credit system still operates with a requirement to achieve a minimum of 30 credits annually from your chosen activities. Formal recognition of these credits is being sought so that they can be used as currency against further formal educational certification.
