Diploma in Coaching Practice

The course offers you the learning and experience that you need to run a professional coaching practice, attracting fee paying clients.

Course Content

The course covers both coaching theory and essential practical coaching experience. During the initial student programme training event, you’ll cover the theory of coaching and start to put theory into practice with group practical and real-life coaching situations around the following topics:

  • Introduction to Coaching and Coaching relationships
  • The Art of Communication - Listening, Questioning and the use of language
  • Intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships
  • Inside the Person - Values and Beliefs
  • Goal Achievement
  • A practical coaching model

At the initial training, you’ll be assigned a personal mentor who will work with you through your personal learning journey, specifically guiding you through sixteen weeks of practical coaching experience. You’ll develop further knowledge through the private study of modules presented at the student programme training, and through studying additional modules on

  • Rapport
  • Self-Esteem
  • Coaching Ethics

After eight weeks, you’ll be invited back to attend a the second part of the student programme during which you’ll receive tuition on:

  • Coaching Relationships
  • Psychology of Coaching
  • Advanced Listening and Questioning Skills

You’ll also be additional training which includes:

  • Introduction to Marketing your Practice
  • An Introduction to Continuous Professional Development and the CPD portfolio
  • A group supervision session

To complete the course and gain accreditation you’ll need to complete a portfolio of written evidence of your study and learning. Each module you study contains a series of small assignments which provides evidence of your personal learning, and you are asked to keep a learning journal throughout your course to support your work. This learning journal is also a useful resource to help you complete a 6,000 word essay. You’ll also be assessed on your practical coaching skills with a final review interview and coaching session.

When you’ve completed the course you’ll be invited to attend one of our renowned Graduation Dinners, where you can share your experience with new students in the company of a guest of your choosing.

Coaching and Mentoring International also offer you the opportunity to attend a voluntary one day “Career Opportunities with Coaching and Mentoring International” workshop. These days are run at intervals through the year.
